Shrimp and Grits - Mother's Day

OHHHH Mother's Day - I truly feel like Mother's Day is my second birthday because my husband goes all out for it - and even though my babies are too young to know what Mother's Day is, they still make it so special. This year for Mother's Day we are celebrating all weekend. My family is coming over for shrimp and grits on Saturday then we are grilling out on Sunday. I love being able to celebrate Mother's Day with my mom and my sisters. They are all such wonderful mother's and I am so blessed and proud to call them my family. I definitely have my mom to thank for my love of cooking because she is a great cook!

Here are a few pictures (ok, more than a few, I'm feeling nostalgic) that mean the most to me on Mother's Day! Plus a recipe to follow!

AND NOW for the shrimp and grits recipe. I didn't even know until a few years ago that grits are just a "southern" food. I still have a hard time believing that people everywhere don't eat them regularly. Is that even true?! I have an even harder time believing that some people have tried them and didn't like them because 1. THEY ARE AMAZING and 2. everyone should like the same foods as me.

Anyway, this recipe is really delicious and I hope you'll try it and I hope you'll love it. Its way creamer than a usual shrimp and grits recipe and I love that about it. And FYI, shrimp and grits is NOT a breakfast food. It is definitely a dinner food but I wouldn't be upset if I had it at a brunch. Same with chicken and waffles......is chicken and waffles just a southern food too??
